Building a Network of Backyards, Rooftops and Abandoned Lots

We really like the concept of the 2nd Annual Urban Farm Tour taking place September 12th in Carrboro, NC, for its rather brilliant simplicity. Build a network of pioneering individuals - vegetable growers, rooftop beekeepers, backyard chicken farmers etc. - who are raising their own food in limited space and open their homes and gardens to the public. An event that synthesizes ideas of local food and community with a bit of DIY inspiration and education, while opening people’s eyes to the potential that exists in their own homes. The Carrboro tour will also include hands-on workshops and coincide with a fundraiser to raise money to start an urban farm tool “lending library”...
