Funky Friday Farmers Market at BADSEED - A MUST ON FRIDAYS IN THE CROSSROADS

I guess it is a little early for that...........but I feel like a local/organic Santa every time I write the weekly e-mail to alert you of the TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS DELIGHTS brought to you by your favorite farmers every Friday at the BADSEED Farmers Market from 4 - 8 PM!!!

Guess what?? You are in luck! I am not even going to torture you with the usual dose of Food Politics or Agrarian Rhetoric!!! I spent the afternoon crushing and packaging dried "hot" peppers from the farm, and like an idiot, I did not wear gloves so now my finger tips (and everywhere else on my face and body I managed touch) are burning like the depths of Hell!! Hallelujah! The good news for you is that I am in too much pain to type......however, I plan to give you a double dose next week. Haha!! Anyway -

Andrea with the JCCC/K-State Student Farm located in Olathe, KS!!! My Oh My are we lucky to have these hard-workin' students at the market this week becuase they are bringing delectable (organically grown) crops including SWEET POTATOES, BROCCOLI, CABBAGE, CAULIFLOWER, BOK CHOY, and SALAD MIX. I thought we had finally seen the end of the green stuff, but alas, one more week of Veggie Power!!!!

*I am sad to say that the growing season is officially over for Dan and Brooke (me) of BADSEED Farm in South KC. Our field is cleared and covered in ice. However, the chickens are having a hey-day eating frozen post-gardengrubs so the eggs are good and healthy!! If you want to reserve a carton of multi-colored, fertilized Eggs please reply to this e-mail...I only have a few. Christmas Trees from Blue Door Farm in KCK!!!!!

Please Note: These are "wild" trees and while the farmer will make an attempt to select trees with the typical Christmas tree shape they will each have their own "character" - They are Eastern Red Cedars and have an incredible aroma!! For those concerned about live trees being chopped down, they are a (beautiful & aromatic) invasive species that takes over native prairie and serves as a disease vector to fruit trees! They need to go!!!

3 to 5 ft: $25

5 to 7 ft: $30

7 to 10 ft: $35

Larger sizes by special arrangement.

**Cedars are a bit prickly sometimes, so bring gloves to wrestle them into or onto your vehicle. You'll also need to bring your own rope/tie downs if needed. Farmer Laura is happy to help.
