The farmers market is a an ideal place to get to acquainted with some wonderful people. Curious, caring and community-minded people can be found picking up produce and talking about sustenance. Great relationships start here, as people get intimate with their food in their own neighborhood. Of course, you don't have to be from midtown KC to enjoy the market. You can meet adventurous individuals who seek out local events as they travel. The act of shopping at the farmers' market is a basic and integral element of survival in the city, just like getting to know and love those around you.

Just add water...       The growers are up adding water to quench the thirst of your upcoming meals.   The food will be harvested on Wednesday morning, so that the tables can be set at the market.  It's up to you to bring it on home... Fresh Opportunities      Coming to your neighborhood this week, we'll have a wide range of new additions to the market.   First off, we are proud to announce that we will be accepting SNAP, Vision and Quest food stamp cards at the market for double their value through the Beans and Greens program.  In addition, we can take debit cards for your regular market purchases.  Come visit the market tent (the one with the lil' window) for details.      Monthly darwings for valuable gifts and prizes begin this week with a sweet deal from one of our vendors.  Kathi, from Ms Fit Ranch has offered to provide a half off coupon to her Bed and Breakfast at her lovely farm near Liberty.  Fill out a free raffle ticket with your name and email address at all of your points of purchase at the market and you will have a chance to be a winner (or more of a winner than you already are)!   We'll draw your ticket at the end of market and email you if you've won.     On a musical note, the Green Spirit Band will inspire and uplift with their conscious harmonies. Just warming up...        This Wednesday at Westport Road and Wyoming Street, three blocks east of State Line, we'll have a variety of local goodness for your perusal and pleasure.  The farmers are just too busy outside planting, weeding and picking to let us in on all they'll be bringing.  We do know we'll have salad greens and cooking greens, lamb, beef, eggs, breads, plants, soaps, art and much more.  For the kids we'll be starting a book project-bring the youths to the market tent for details.  Now is a great time to talk to a farmer about your gardening questions.  They have plenty of experience and are happy to share.    www.farmersmarketkc.org
