Chalfant says the market is going to start "small but mighty," with around a dozen vendors, all of whom are certified organic or members of KC Food Circle or the equivalent. Not all the names are finalized yet, but among them are Foxfire Farm, which will serve sweet corn, and Schenker Family Farms, serving lamb, beef, and other meat. There will also be vendors selling produce, flowers, soap, bread, honey and dairy products, all under a covered patio. "It overlooks the lake and it's really a scenic area," Chalfant says.
The Mission Farms Farmers' Market will be open every Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. on the east side of the Mission Farms. It opens for the season on May 7.
