Okay...I think that is all I've got (with the exception of the "post" below).  I cannot believe I managed to get through all that typing.  I was gonna give you one of my "riveting" farm up-dates but I don't have it in me.  I literally have not slept a wink for several weeks now.  Percy is still teething like a maniac and yet not a single tooth has popped!!!  Heaven help me.  Somehow, your utterly exhausted & ever dedicated "Farmer turned Mommy" will get through the chaos of child rearing AND spring planting.  I may very well drop dead before our May opening so you'd better hug me "goodbye" this Friday!!  See you then!!!!

My Name is Dierk Van Keppel. I own 5 acres of bottom and timberland along Turkey Creek at 6801 Farley Merriam , KS 66203. My phone # is 913-262-1763. My email is I have a plow, disc, tiller and water supply. I also have compost from wood chips. I am interested in finding a sharecrop gardener to plant, grow and harvest food crops, herbs, flowers and mushrooms, and maintain the garden. I would provide the investment in seed, starts and fungus culture and expect a share of the produce and a properly maintained garden.

From The Lips of Lew:
"this being the last market of the season, you'd think i'd have a tighter clue on what the hell i'm doing and why.  you'd think so, but it's not to be.  like the rest of the growers in the area, i'm busy getting transplants grown for my use and for sale to you guys.  now, with this insane weather, it's possible i'll get some thing in the ground a couple weeks early.  that's cool, except i still have to bake bread, remake garden beds, amend the soil and locate some more help. I'm still looking for one more part-time apprentice and one more weekly volunteer.
sourdough bread will be available at my place during the two months of transition - i wouldn't call it a break.
don't forget to occupy a garden!"

They are never fed any grain, animal by products, antibiotics, or injected with growth hormones. We have been practicing Management Intensive Grazing since 1997. It is our goal to care for all of the livestock that we have been blessed with, in as natural and humane a manner as we can.  Our chickens for meat and eggs are also raised on pasture with green grass under their feet as much as the weather in this part of the world allows.  Our hogs are fed grain, but do live outdoors with dirt under their feet.  We do not use any petroleum based pesticides or fertilizers on our pastures. We believe that healthy people, and healthy animals start with healthy plants and a healthy, biologically active, soil community.  Our meats are available at the BADSEED Market or through our Community Supported Agriculture shares."
