Funky Friday Farmers Market at BADSEED - FRIDAYS in the CROSSROADS - 4-8pm

Howdy Frozen Friends -

Happy New Year! I hate to rub it in, but this local farmer managed to escape the cold & ice for a few weeks. I am currently in the magical lands of California in my old stomping grounds - glorious San Francisco. But, my dearest "eaters", don't you worry. The BADSEED Farmers Market will go on in my absence this Friday from 4:00 - 8 PM. Our die-hard gang of gregarious growers have desperately missed you these last couple weeks and are eager to share the organic "fruits of their labor" for the betterment of your belly......

I have to say that when I first moved back to the midwest from years of world travel and San Francisco nights I was terrified. I imagined a land- locked existence lacking culture, cuisine, west-coast energy, and liberalism. Then I dug my hands in that blessed KC dirt, grew food, connected with you, and fed you. I found freedom and liberty at the root. Today, 4 years later, I am standing in this great City of my past. The place that seduced my very soul, that encapsulated my entire youth, and humored my idealism. The wind from the San Francisco Bay is blowing through my hair and the energies of this nation's most beautiful city are pumping through my veins. I am a farmer and a foodie surrounded by some of the world's most fertile valleys and finest cuisine. BUT alas, I am unmoved! I simply miss my chickens, my husband, my canned goods, and my dirt! Oh well, ain't life funny.......just promise to have a damned good time for me this Friday @ the BADSEED!!!!!



If the winter veggies have made it through those cold,cold temperatures, Andrea, Neil, and the gang from the JCCC/K-State Student Farm located in Olathe, KS will have Spinach, SWEET POTATOES, CABBAGE, and Lettuce Mixes. (cross your finger folks!!)

*Our man Steve from Platte Prairie Farms in North KC will hopefully have some tasty green stuff like Spinach, and a healthful variety of Local BULK GRAINS & NUTS!!!!

*Heirloom Pumpkins for fantastic winter soups, breads, pies, and more from Super Pov at Hun's Garden in KCK

*Grass-Fed Lamb including French Racks, bone-in and boneless lamb legs, lamb kabob meat, lamb shanks cut Osso Bucco style, lamb stew meat, and ground lamb. Not to mention Farmstead Sheep's Milk Cheeses in an impressive array of aged and fresh varieties from Green Dirt Farm

*Certified Organic Beef including steaks, roasts, ground, and special cuts from Wells Family Farm

Oh soooo delicious OYSTER & SHITAKE MUSHROOMS and Free-Range Eggs with burnt orange yolks from Paul and Judy at the Mushroom Farm

*Whole Grains Breads, specialty loaves, and baked goodies from our friends at Bread of Life Bakery

*Moist and Delicious breads, pies, cinnamon rolls, and endless sweet treats from Alice's home-grown and freshly ground wheat. As well as EGGS, Canned Goods, Wood Carved Bowls, and more at
