Dearest Seekers of Earthly Edible Delights -
OH MY GOD!! There is nothing like digging a giant, radiating, fleshy-pink tuber out of the jet black earth. That's right folks:
SWEET POTATOES ARE HERE!!!!
(check out the pics below)
Me and my honey spent the better part of the day digging up these gorgeous gals so that you and your honey can snatch them up thisFriday from 4:30 to 9 PM at the BADSEED Farmers Market!!
I simply live for the Autumn Harvest! I farm all season long eating lettuce and tomatoes and okra and green beans, but secretly I want MORE!! I want something creamy and hearty and melt in your mouth sensational.....I want Sweet Potatoes and Pumpkins and Butternut Squash!!
I have to admit that since the arrival of Fall, life has gotten way too decadent. I stay up late making pumpkin pies, and pumpkin butters, soups, and pumpkin breads. Half way through the sweet potato harvest today I couldn't take the temptation. I had to run inside to make a Sweet Potato, Apple, and Jalapeno Fritter!!! For crying out loud, I feel the urge to make a Sweet Potato Pie coming on this minute!! Needless to say, the husband does not mind this insane behavior.
As for these fresh dug sweet pots, we have two varieties:
*Beauregard - an orange fleshed beauty with a creamy and sweet flavor perfect for pies and all concoctions
*Japanese - a white fleshed potato with a slightly denser texture and more complex flavor which I describe as "roasted marshmallow"!!! (it is my favorite)
And that's not all folks, BADSEED's gang of urban/renegade growers will also have the following:
**Luscious Leeks
**Sweet Bell Peppers in red and purple
**Orgasmic Eggplant
**Heirloom Winter Squash in Acorn, Butternut, Carnival, Spaghetti, and Japanese Pink Banana!!!!!
**Pie Pumpkins
**Chinese Red Noodle Beans
**Onions and Garlic
**Mean Greens including Gourmet Salad Mixes, Arugula, Spinach, Kale, Rainbow Chard, & our famous Asian "stir fry" Mix
**Red and Golden Beets
**Easter Egg Radishes
**Aromatic Herbs and more....
not to mention
***Aged and Fresh Goat Cheese from Goatsbeard Farm
***Fresh Roasted Organic Coffee from Puddin' Head
***Free Range EGGS & Delicious Baked BREADS from Bread of Life Bakery
