Dearest Eaters -

I am HIGH!!!  High as a freakin' kite...(and not on no drug).  I am HIGH out of my mind off of HIGH SPEED INTERNET.  

I'm flyin' through the internet waves at lightining speed...googlin' this and googlin' that...pages loading at a blink of an eyeball...and my maxed-out "farmer brain" can barely keep up! This is some good shit!!!

Until today, pathetic Farmer Brooke has been using DIAL-UP INTERNET to manage a business, a farm, a city-wide composting program, and an endless list of other (high speed internet worthy) tasks such as free-lance writing and photography.  What the f&%$???  I know it's crazy...like what century do I live in!!...BUT when you're POOR you cut freakin' corners wherever you can.  Let me put it to you this way - When you're "po" you flush the toilet every other time you use the bathroom.  When you're "po" you keep the heat at 55 degrees and wear two pairs of socks to bed.  When you're "po" you re-use the oil in the skillet three times before washing it.  AND FINALLY, when you're "po" you subscribe to (god forsaken) dial-up internet connection!!!  Ha!

Anyway (dial-up internet connection aside) being poor aint so bad.  I grew up in an upper middle-class family and it taught me that people often have A LOT more than they need.  It makes them wasteful and causes them to take things for granted.  When I became a farmer, I learned to live with very few "bells & whistles" and learned to make due with good ol' fashioned DIRT.  And now...look at me!!...movin' up in the world with high-speed-internet!!!  I sure as heck won't take this for granted.  What a trip.  Whew wee!!  What do you suppose is next?  A flat-screen TV??  Heck no!!!  I don't even have a TV, let alone a flat-screen.  Besides, who needs a TV when you've got CHICKENS!

Okay, Okay....enough socioeconomic "jive" talk.  The one thing I know to be true is this: whether you are rich or poor -  ALL of us can get down on some GRUB...meaning utterly delicious, totally righteous REAL FOOD.  We'll have that for you (and more) this Friday at the BADSEED *Winter* Farmers' Market.  Join the Food Revolution from 4-8 PM and quench your local-organic desires with homegrown artisan delights.

this friday i'm bringing all the arugula i can cut and  a load of curly kale that's still growing and looking like a curly topiairy tree - along with plenty of mouth-watering sourdough bread from my wonderful wood-fired earthen oven.
