MEMBERSHIPS STILL AVAILABLE FOR KC’S ONLY YEAR-ROUND, WHOLE-FARM CSA

Experience True Farm-to-Table Living When You Join Kansas City’s Only Year-Round,
100%-Member-Supported Sustainable Family Farm, and Eat Locally in Every Season

Hidden Hills Farms in Smithville, MO is now accepting applications for its year-round, full-farm CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program, which begins in October — just when traditional CSAs tend to go into hibernation for the winter.

“We all still eat year round, so why would we stop buying fresh, local food in the wintertime?” said Jennifer Charlson (@farmgirljenny) who runs the sustainable farm with her husband, Damon.

Unlike traditional CSAs, a Hidden Hills membership lasts 52 weeks and each member designs his or her membership from scratch. “You don’t like pork or don’t want too much dairy?,” said Charlson of the free-choice CSA. “No problem!”

At Hidden Hills Farms, members eat just like (very blessed) farmers all year round — each designing a personalized share of pasture-raised meats (beef, lamb, turkey, Heritage pigs and chickens) and eggs, 100% grass-fed dairy (farmstead cheeses and more fresh dairy products) and year-round Heirloom produce, grown outside in the warm seasons and in high tunnels during the cold months. In addition to whole foods, Hidden Hills Farms offers members a selection of a la carte items, including traditionally-prepared pantry goods (bone broths, pickled items, dressings) and meals to go.

A 100%-member-supported family farm, Hidden Hills Farms is an open farm, meaning members can stop by at any time to feed the chickens or pick some berries. And for those who want to learn how to milk a cow, make artisan cheeses or forage for morels, classes are available.

The farm is currently accepting applications for memberships, which begin in October, though a limited number of spots are open immediately. Contract delivery is available.

WESTPORT PLAZA FARMERS' MARKET - at Westport & Wyoming - WEDNESDAY Evening Local Food in Kansas City

WESTPORT PLAZA
FARMERS' MARKET

We have some great food coming. But some have asked, why isn't there more?

A bit about our tiny market...

Lots of requests have been coming in lately for potential vendors wanting to sell all manner of merchandise at our little market. While some of these goods may have their respective appeals, they are either not locally made/grown, or are not produced with a sincere effort towards sustainability.

All vendors at Westport Plaza are asked to sign and commit to a pledge upholding a higher standard of quality and integrity in their goods. There are only so many committed local producers in our area with enough time and produce to vend each week. If you know anyone who shares our respect for life and may be interested in joining our market, send them this email so that we can allow this market to grow with pride.
