Whew Wee!! I am beat. I started my day at 7 am, planted/seeded/weeded until the heat subsided, then harvested like a mad woman until 9:15 at night. After preparing supper for the boys, it is now 11:35 pm and I am only just beginning the god forsaken "market e-mail". Heaven help me...I feel like I could literally keel over. I'm sure breast-feeding an 11 month old baby all day long certainly doesn't contribute to my energy level. "Drained" takes on a whole new meaning!
Anyway, enough venting! LIFE IS HARD...blah, blah, blah. Who cares! The good news is, we have more freaking produce than we can freaking get out of the ground!! That's why I'm out there on a Wednesday night harvesting for a Friday market! There's just too much stuff to cram into our normal harvest schedule. New URBAVORE goodies this week will include "baby beets", Gold Ball (buttery) Turnips, and a plethora of tangy & tasty Asian greens. I could go on and on, but alas, I MUST STOP!!! I gotta go to bed and do this all over again. So, in conclusion, GET YOUR (organic loving) BOOTIES DOWN TO THE BADSEED THIS FRIDAY from 4-9 pm. Experience the "Food Revolution" in the flesh and STUFF YOUR FACE. See you Friday...or else.

Okay, this time I'm not messing around...it really is your LAST CHANCE to sign-up for Chris's totally awesome class:
Monday, May 21st, 7-9 pm
As
a self-described bread obsessive, Chris Glenn of New Traditionalist
Bread thinks that the experience of starting with simple flour and water
and creating something beautiful and edible can be magical and super
fun. Join Chris as he breaks down the basics of materials, techniques,
terminology, and many other resources to send you on your way toward
full-fledged “Bread Head” status. Students will also experience hands-on
demonstrations of mixing, shaping and baking, and, if all goes well, we
will end the class with a lovely loaf to share.
Cost of Class - $30 (including samples and some sourdough “starter” to take home with you!!!)

RECIPE OF THE WEEK
Have
you ever cooked lettuce?? "Sacrilege" you say! Well, not so fast. My
wonderful "foodie friend" & BADSEED groupie, Emily Akins, was brave
enough to try and as a result she has a wonderful recipe to share.
Chomp down on some URBAVORE lettuce heads in the form of Braised Lettuce & Peas.
YUMMY...(not slimy)...YUMMY!

Sexy Veggie of the Week
This week's Runner-Up is the wicked and wild PURPLE PAC CHOY. What can I say...if Prince were a vegetable, this would be it! So from now on, I'd better refer to Purple Pac Choy as the vegetable formerly known as Purple Pac Choy. Alright, enough joking around. This stuff has some SERIOUS flavor. It can be stir-fried, steamed, sauteed, or eaten raw while wearing a purple g-string and listening to Purple Rain. Okay...now I'm just being gross. Sorry. Never mind all that. This stuff is the BOMB (!!) and it is the last week I will be harvesting it. Get wid' it.
This week's Grand-Prize-Winner is the eye-catching Easter Egg Radish. I don't know how to begin describing the sheer beauty of these crisp little "dirt devils". (Check out the photo!). These delightful & refreshing radishes come in a stunning variety of colors from plum purple, to cotton candy pink, to deep fuchsia, stark white, and red scarlet. They are a pleasure to harvest and I get such a kick out of piling them high on the market table. Look for the glowing mountain of color this Friday. You cannot miss em'!!!
Pictures are attached. You know the drill - print them out, blow them up, and plaster them all over the men's room!!
