HERE'S WHAT'S FRESH

Blue Door Farm will have a bunch of scrumptious vegetables and more elderberry blossoms.  If I may, I'd like to briefly rave about elderberry blossom fritters, which I tried for the first time this week.  Imagine a light, lacy funnel cake, infused with a floral, slightly sweet flavor. Think drizzled honey, golden crunchy sweetness and one awesome, very seasonal, treat.  Yeah, it's that good.  And it is super easy.  I'll be bringing a modified recipe that I think is even better than the one from last week.

Back on the scrumptious veggie front:  Garlic! Carrots! Cabbage! Broccoli! Onions! Broccolini! Kohlrabi! Chard! Kale! Baby fennel! ... Exclamation Points!  Oh, and the last of the head lettuce for a few weeks at least.   See you Saturday, Laura

We should have slicing and pickling cucumbers (let the season begin!!), broccoli, small green and yellow zucchini, purple and green cabbage, sugar peas,snow peas, and English, or shelling peas, turnips, beets, onions, garlic, baby carrots, potatoes, gooseberries (heading to the woods to go pick), kale, lettuce, dill and sweet pickles, relish, maybe strawberries, cut and potted herbs, rodent and rabbit repellent, and a few flower bouquets, if I still have daylight left!  See you Saturday!  Tomatoes next week??

This week has been a busy one around the bakery! The big news is that my first
granddaughter arrived on Monday.;) Little Mercedes has all of us wrapped around
her little finger!

We will be at the market on Saturday with the Honey bee cookies, granola bars,
and raspberry bars, along with all the bread and breakfast items.

zinc oxide for an SPF of 20.  Zinc Oxide
is the only sunscreen that has been approved by the FDA.  We also
have BATH SALTS which are Dead Sea Salts and
Epsom Salts with Lavender Essential Oil for a truly relaxing soak.

Another busy week - guess I'll be saying that until the end of October! This week we'll be bringing broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, kohlrabi, cucumbers, green and yellow zucchini, garlic, leeks, onions, potatoes, bulb fennel, fresh cut basil and lots of kale, chard, lettuce, tomatoes and more. We'll also have more garden transplants, though this may be the last week to get plants.  Come enjoy the market and pick up some of the wonders of summer! See you Saturday!

MUROAK FARM
Hello from Muroak Farm.  It has been a windy week but we are thankful for the cooler temps.  This week we will have Some more great cabbage, garlic, small onions, romaine lettuce, kale, I think we will have some radishes ready and maybe a few kohlrabi.  There is still some time to start blackberries and strawberries.  I still have a few left.  Last but not least we will try to have a few pints   of mulberries.  Mulberries make great syrup.  They also go great in a home made ice cream.  I haven't tried it yet but I have been told they make a great wine.  Come by and see us and check out our handmade wooden clocks.

Give Dad some special love this Father's Day with some "oishii" treats. Roaring River Bread

Hello again friends of Roaring River Bread! Last weeks new additions were very well received! I am glad everyone enjoyed the new muffins and banana nut bread! They will be back again this week. I am also coming up with some yummy desserts. This weeks newest member will be bread pudding. It is outstanding! Everyone seems to really like our newest loaf of bread too. The Eighteen Hour Italian has been a hit! I will have all of the old favorites so come get your Harvest Seven Grain, Cinnamon Raisin or Italian Ciabatta. Kale Fest last weekend was a great time.  Thanks to all who joined in on the community food and fun event.
We’ll be back this weekend with more perfectly summer veggies including filet beans, cucumbers, summer squash, sweet peppers, tomatoes (but do come early, they are still rather rare), Funky Fresh stir-fry mix, broccoli, carrots, beets, Hakurei turnips, Scarlet Queen turnips, radishes, spicy salad mix, lettuce mix, microgreens, arugula, Giant Red mustard, fennel, scallions, onions, kale, Swiss chard, collard greens, purslane, sugar snap peas, cabbage, potatoes and fresh herbs.

We are not-so-patiently waiting for the first tomatoes to ripen! We may have a few grape and cherries ready. We will have Romaine Lettuce, Green Onions, Rainbow Baby Carrots, Chard, Beets, Blueberries, Zucchini & possibly some pie cherries. Plus, perfect for Father's Day— Tumbling Tom Tomato Baskets — potted daylilies (4 for $15) and very nice hostas - 2 for $5.75.

Golden Crown Coffee: In honor of Father's Day we have lots of our coffee BBQ sauce and our Spice Rub. We are also starting to serve freshly brewed, Rainforest Alliance certified iced tea. And as always great coffee roasted the night before market, which makes a great Dad's day gift!
