Farmers' Community Market at Brookside ~ SATURDAYS ~ 8am-1pm

Here are a few treats to look for this Saturday at market!

From Blue Door Farm:

Hello, hello market-folk. I must strongly suggest something to all of you: Go outside!
The sky is blue, the temps are perfect, the grass is green and it's all waiting for you to enjoy. So take a moment to slip outside for lunch, a walk or maybe even a jaunt to the park. Your mood will lift, I promise!

I'll be outside (of course) harvesting these tasty veggies for you this week:

- Japanese eggplant. These babies are growing like crazy right now. They are tender, mild and have few seeds. If you've hesitated to try cooking with eggplant, these are a great introduction. I'll bring some yummy recipes.

- Carmen sweet italian peppers. I think I've raved about these enough, but just in case: sweet, rich, delicious.

- Tomatoes. I’ll also have okra and kale. Need I say more?

And that is it, for this week at least. I've been busy planting fall crops to tempt you with later in the year, but for now we must cherish the summer crops!

Now go outside! :)

See you Saturday,

Hello Brookside Market,

This week we will have more of our Anna's Gluten Free bread available
along with the cookies muffins and brownies. We were short last week so we are going to have more bread made.
Our burritos, quiches, breadke,,cookies, cinnamon rolls, vegan treats and granolas.
Hope to see many of you on Saturday,
Luke, Chris and Kathy

Bread of Life

Bear Creek Farms

Glorious, glorious fall weather - 50 degrees this morning. (Yesterday we finally got the air conditioner fixed after a long hot summer - typical!) All week we've noticed the sounds and signs of autumn - the crows calling, monarch crysalises hanging everywhere, crickets in every closet, walking sticks appearing on the screens, the school bus going by, sweatshirts hanging on fence posts as the day warms up - yep, its fall - and we are sure giving thanks!

So at market we'll have cabbage, peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, potatoes, okra, the first of the winter squash, some cantalope (if the coons don't find them first), basil, and everything else we might find.

Hope everyone else is enjoying this cooler weather as much as we! See you Saturday -

Thanks to everyone who came out last week! The weather looks to be beautiful again, so we’ll be looking for you again…and will bring
Lots more butternut squash, spaghetti squash, acorn squash, not quite 800 pounds of potatoes in many sizes and colors, sweet potato greens, the last of this year’s garlic. Come early for the tomatoes. And as things look now, we’ll have green beans and edamame. Sweet peppers and beautiful hot peppers. Dancer eggplant and her friends. Tomatillos. Basil. Summer squash. We’ll also bring leeks, mini onions, beets, carrots, microgreens, Malabar spinach, arugula, purslane and other herbs ready for now or for drying.

See you Saturday!
